Uncle Buck, as we affectionately referred to him after the John Candy movie came out, was a fun uncle, irreverent with a quick wit, with whom you were guaranteed to have a good time. You would always choose to ride with him from point A to point B at a family gathering. A special memory from one of these family gatherings 25+ years ago is zooming down the highway in his white Eagle Talon, windows down, with Neil Diamond's America blasting. In addition to anything by Neil Diamond, Proud Mary was a favorite song of UB's. His favorite holiday was Christmas - he precisely wrapped presents and was known as "Santa Bill" at that time of year. He had a talent for making delicious baked stuffed shrimp. He loved a great story, had a hearty laugh, and was there for all the milestones in my life with a fancy camera. Growing up, I always felt special in his presence, and that is a great gift to give someone. I know he gave this gift to others, too. He would begin his phone calls to me: "Kristina!" I am ever grateful that he met Joan and her wonderful family so many years ago. Love and miss you, Uncle Buck.
