Tribute & Message From The Family

Robert Johnson Jr. 69, of Manchester NH, passed away at home on July 27, 2020. He was born on July 27, 1951 to Robert Johnson and Marvis (Davis) Holt in Goffstown, NH, and would later marry his best friend and love of his life, Laura, with whom he shared many years of loving marriage.

A Goffstown native, Robert was locally known as "Huckleberry Finn" for his free-spirited nature and the fact that he could often be found around town barefoot and with a fishing pole in hand. In his late teens he joined the Army and served in Korea in 1969, a service of which he was very proud of for the duration of his life. Upon his return, he worked as a mechanic for the rest of his days, which served as more of a passion than an occupation as he always loved fixing things, whether it be for money or not.

Robert will be remembered as an outgoing, free-spirited, generous and fun-loving man who would give the shirt off his back to anyone in need. He would often fill up the room with his lovable nature and big laugh and was always making friends wherever he was. He also loved being outdoors, whether fishing in the lakes or hunting in the woods, as he was always his best self when spending time outdoors. Robert was also a board member of the Even Par Club, where he made many long-standing friends and colleagues throughout his time there. Above all else, Robert loved his family and friends immensely, and will be dearly missed by all whose lives he touched.

Robert has now joined his father and mother Robert & Marvis; and his two brothers David Holt & Carl Johnson in heaven. He is survived by his wife Laura Johnson; daughter Jolene Desmarais; daughter Sara Johnson; brother Jeff Holt and his wife Julie; sister Linda Coker and her husband William; grandchildren Angelina & Haley; as well as many nieces, nephews, friends and extended family.

A celebration of Robert's life will be held on Friday, July 31 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Phaneuf Funeral Homes, 243 Hanover St. Manchester NH. He will be laid to rest alongside his brother Carl Johnson on Saturday, August 1 at 10:00 AM at the West Lawn Cemetery in Goffstown.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the VA Medical Center

To the Johnsons,
Thank you for your many years of of kindness & friendship.
Being introduced to The Johnson's by Keith, Kelly, Dave and Missy to play poker at your house became many years of fun, laughter, and friendship. Especially that time I accidentally broke and fell out of your kitchen chair. While embarrassed and shocked I destroyed a kitchen chair I a flat second from just trying to slide out of it; you guys just laughed it off and replaced it with a folding chair assuring I shouldn't break that one ...lol.

May heaven open its doors for you and save you a seat at the poker table.
I will miss you my friend and am grateful to you and your family for your friendship.
