Manchester, New Hampshire | Age 94

Rita L. (St. Jean) Lussier, of Manchester, died peacefully February 8, 2018 at home following a brief illness.

She was born in Manchester on February 2, 1924, the daughter of Gedeon F. and Marie Laure (Turcotte) St. Jean. She had been a Manchester resident all of her life, spending the last 68 years living in the beautiful home she and her husband, Raymond, built with love and filled with so many memories.

Members of her family include her daughters, Suzanne Barbeau and her husband, Richard A. of Goffstown and Paulette R. Lussier of Manchester; grandsons, Jacob and Jeffry Luce and granddaughter, Michelle A. Barbeau; five great grandchildren, Evan, Samuel, Joshua, Keyanna and Stephanie; and many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Raymond J. Lussier in 1974; her daughter, Doris L. Lussier in 1952; her sons, Philippe R. Lussier in 2012 and Raymond R. Lussier in 2015; her brothers, Roger M. St. Jean, Raoul J. St. Jean and Robert E. St. Jean; her sisters, Jeannette E. St. Cyr, Laurette E. Thibodeau, Marguerite O. Girouard, Lillian E. Provencher and Violet R. Skoglund.

In her younger years, she worked at Arms Textile in Manchester where she met the love of her life, Raymond. She was a member of the Catholic War Veterans Auxiliary Chapter 1352 and the Sodality of St. Anne at the former St. Theresa Parish.

Rita enjoyed bingo, reading, yard sales, sharing the fun of lottery scratch tickets with Michelle, traveling to Hampton Beach and Lake Winnipesaukee with Phil and Ray, trips to Florida and eating ice cream while enjoying the serenity of beautiful Lake Massabesic with Sue.

She will be remembered for her enthusiasm of living life to its fullest, an all abiding commitment to those she loved and a hopeful spirit no matter the hardships she faced during her life.

Above all else, she was the embodiment of unconditional love to all she knew and most of all to her family. She was a loving and compassionate human being who will be missed by all.

She was forever grateful and appreciated all the help her son-in-law, Rick, and granddaughter, Michelle, provided throughout the years.

The family would like to thank the employees of the Hillsborough County Nursing Home Rehab Unit for their compassionate care during her time spent there and the Manchester VNA Home Health and Hospice, especially Sarah and Henry. Their care and compassion was appreciated beyond measure.

A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Tuesday, February 13, 2018 at Blessed Sacrament Church, 14 Elm St., Manchester. Committal prayers followed at Mt. Calvary Mausoleum, 474 Goffstown Rd., Manchester.
