Concord - Maurice Henry Dupuis, 89, died Tuesday, April 18, 2017 surrounded by his loving family. Maurice was born in Concord to Samuel Dupuis and Alberta Dupuis (Monast) on October 3, 1927. He graduated from St John's High School in 1946. After High School, he served in the Navy during the tail end of World War II. After his service with the Navy, he received his Bachelor's degree from New England College and then attended the University of New Hampshire where he received his Master's Degree in Philology.
After college, he worked for the Department of Defense and the NH National Guard for many years until his retirement.
Maurice was a true renaissance man when it came to literature, music, movies, etc. In the early 90's, he continued his love of language by taking courses at San Francisco State where he studied Esperanto. He was an ESL tutor for the Concord School District for many years. Maurice loved sports of all kinds, particularly tennis, squash and racquetball. He played competitive tennis well into his 80's, winning many New England titles in his age group.
He also enjoyed hiking and cycling. Both he and his wife, Marilyn, traveled throughout the world during the past three decades.
Aside from his parents, Maurice was predeceased by his oldest son, Calvin Dupuis, in 2016.
He is survived by his wife, Marilyn Fraser; his twin sons, Leon M. and Lionel R. Dupuis; his daughter-in-law, Yvonne Dupuis; two grandchildren, Derrick Dupuis and Stacy Dupuis Celata and one great grandchild, Russell Celata.
There will be no calling hours. A service for immediate family and close relatives will be held on Friday, April 28, 2017 at 4:00 pm at Bennett Funeral Home, 209 North Main St. Concord, NH.
